The Motus AY is an advanced medical-grade laser platform combining two powerful wavelengths — Alexandrite 755 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm.
While it is exceptional for laser hair removal, this versatile system can also be used for the treatment of red and blue leg veins and fungal nail infections (onychomycosis).
Why we chose Alexandrite laser hair removal
Not all laser hair removal technology is the same.
One of the most important differences between laser systems is the wavelength of light they use. The 755 nm Alexandrite wavelength is widely regarded as a gold-standard technology for laser hair removal, thanks to its strong absorption by melanin within the hair.
This makes Alexandrite particularly effective for targeting unwanted hair, including finer hairs that can sometimes prove more challenging for other technologies.
Rather than simply heating the surface of the skin, laser energy is attracted to pigment within the hair. This energy travels down towards the follicle, where heat damages the structures responsible for producing new hair.
Over a course of treatments, this can produce a significant, long-term reduction in unwanted hair growth.
What makes Motus AY different?
Traditional Alexandrite treatments have a reputation for being effective, but they haven’t always had a reputation for being comfortable.

Its Moveo technology allows us to gradually heat the treatment area using multiple controlled passes, rather than relying solely on individual high-energy shots.
The Moveo handpiece remains in contact with the skin and incorporates cooling technology, helping to make treatment considerably more comfortable.

Laser hair removal for different skin types
One of the reasons we invested in the Motus AY is its versatility.
Alongside its 755 nm Alexandrite laser, the system also incorporates a 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser.
Nd:YAG penetrates more deeply into the skin and interacts less with epidermal melanin than Alexandrite. This makes Nd:YAG particularly useful when treating darker skin types.
Having both wavelengths available gives our experienced laser therapists greater flexibility when selecting treatment parameters for the individual in front of us.

It’s not just a hair-removal laser

Red and blue leg veins
Small visible veins on the legs can be difficult to treat because some vessels sit deeper within the skin.
The 1064 nm Nd:YAG wavelength penetrates more deeply and can be used to target vascular structures, making it particularly useful for suitable red and blue leg veins and leg telangiectasia.
The laser energy is absorbed by haemoglobin within the vessel, generating heat and damaging the unwanted vessel while aiming to minimise damage to the surrounding tissue. The treated vessel can then gradually be broken down and cleared by the body.
A consultation is important before treatment because not every visible leg vein is suitable for cosmetic laser treatment. Larger or symptomatic veins may require assessment by an appropriate medical professional.
Fungal nail laser treatment
The Motus AY can also be used in the treatment of onychomycosis — more commonly known as fungal nail infection.
Fungal nail infections can be frustrating and persistent, causing nails to become thickened, brittle, discoloured or distorted.
Laser treatment uses controlled thermal energy through the nail plate and nail bed as part of the management of fungal nail infection.
Because a healthy nail has to physically grow out, results aren’t instant. Toenails grow slowly, so improvement is assessed over the following months as new nail growth appears.
